Recently, I did a post called Who is Ethan Haas?. This post came about when I watched Transformers and watched a mysterious trailer for a new JJ Abrams movie.

When I created the post I made a realization that there will be a lot of people looking for solutions to the “Ethan Haas Was Right” website puzzles. After solving them with some help I posted all the information to be as useful to others. This proved to be a very effective way to draw extra traffic.

Now, I know this isn’t anything compared to what pro bloggers are doing in terms of traffic. But because of this post I noticed a 250% increase in traffic for a couple of days. What surprised me even more was the just how fast people started coming to my site for the information. Within a couple of hours I was noticing a steady increase to the post. It just goes to show how fast the search engines are now grabbing new content. After a day or so, I submitted it to Digg.com, I thought this might cause an increase in traffic, however the flow was minimal compared to the traffic coming from all the search engines.

Another post which I was noticing an increase of traffic was “The Secret to Getting Rich Program a Scam?”. I was finding a large amount of people coming to the post regularly because the post content was incredibly unique and relevant. When I was wrote the article, there was very little for me to reference from. The benefit was that when people had an inclination of the SGR program being a scam, my article ranked well in the search engines.

So what have I learned? Should I post only stuff that is the most current? The latest fad? Personally, it is really up to the individual and that they are providing content that is unique and relevant to them. If the content happens to draw people by the thousands, then great! You have made a successful entry. As for myself, I am a firm believer that content is king. If you provide your readers with content that is relevant and important, they will keep coming back for the content.
