My name is Corey Stroeder and like many people around the world, I dream of the freedom afforded by eventually retiring. Recently, it dawned on me: retirement is about 35 years away.

Thirty five years to work my ass off in order to enable retirement at 65. Despite financial independence to travel and achieve goals, at 65 experiencing life becomes tougher. I am 30 years old. These are supposed to be the best times of my life. I want to enjoy my time to the fullest.

Similar to prudent individuals with a goal, I continue to try to save around 10% of my annual income into my Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP or 401k in the USA). However, if I were to plan to retire by the time I was 65, while continuing to invest 10% of my income each year; I will have only saved approximately $300,000.

Now $300,000 seems like a lot of money, but spread that out over 30 years and you can see how that money would barely cover the basic cost of living. All my life I have followed what has been considered the most effective way of saving for retirement. By following this model of saving, it is clear that once I do retire, I will have enough to just get by and not afford being able to explore, learn and celebrate life.

My retirement planning requires me to think outside of the box. This is where MyRetirmentProject.com comes into action.

The Idea

I have long believed that if I won the lottery, I felt that all I would need is $1 million dollars to live comfortably for the rest of my life in retirement.

Think about it, with a million dollars invested at a conservative 5% per annum, which could lead to a potential annual income of $50,000 per year!

Compound the $50,000 per year earning in interest; I would continue saving 10% of my interest income back into my retirement savings plans, effectively living financially independent for the rest of my life.

Why Support My Retirement Project?

For the same reason people go and purchase a lottery ticket every day, we all dream about being financially free to retire early, travel and to enrich our lives to a higher level than what we can achieve through our daily grind. It is my hope that I will earn your support because my dream of retiring is a common goal for everyone.
